Beach Week 2011

This past week, we took a family vacation to Charleston, SC (Wild Dunes). We spent the week with my parents, and Chris, and his girlfriend, Angela. Matt's parents also came to visit during the week. It was great having plenty of extra hands to help out with the children (as we quickly came to realize that family vacation does not equal parenting vacation). Patrick told us his favorite thing about the beach was the elevator that was in our beach house. He also enjoyed building/smashing sandcastles, collecting seashells, running in the sand, and splashing in the surf (when the waves weren't too intimidating). Alexandra's favorite beach activity was sleeping in someone's arms and perhaps dipping her toes in the water. We all enjoyed reconnecting with our families over beach walks, board games, and tracking hurricane Irene. The only down side to a relaxing beach week is how quickly it goes by and remembering that all too soon there is a job to go back to and at best a 1:1 adult to child ratio.
